18th Witold Woyda Foil Tournament and 16th Cup Tournament

The XVIII Witold Woyda Foil Tournament and the XVI Tournament for the Golden Team Cup are individual and team fencing competitions within the Cadet European Cup series. They will take place at Arena Ursynów on October 10 and 11 this year. The individual tournament (Saturday) will begin at 8:30 a.m. with group eliminations and end with a ceremonial final at around 6:00 p.m., during which the top four competitors will fight two semifinal bouts and the final that decides the overall triumph. A total of 132 competitors from 16 countries and 16 teams from 7 countries have entered the competition. The Warsaw tournament inaugurates the new 2026/27 season, so its participants will earn the first ranking points for the European classification. Among the previous winners is one later Olympic medalist (bronze in Tokyo 2020 - Aleksander Szupenicz of the Czech Republic, won the tournament in 2011). Poles have won the grand prix three times. Michał Kryczało stood on the top step of the tournament in 2008, Andrzej Rządkowski in 2014. In the same year he triumphed at the Youth Olympic Games (Nanjing) and became cadet world champion (Plovdiv). The third of the Polish winners, Adam Jakubowski, won the tournament in 2020. The honorary guests of the tournament will be Lech Koziejowski, a member of the Olympic team, and Zbigniew Skrudlik, coach of the foil national team for the 1972 Olympics (Munich). It was there that Polish fencers won two gold medals - individually Witold Woyda and the team. The ceremonial presentation of the main trophy - the Witold Woyda Foil with a blade covered in 24-karat gold and a replica of the Olympic medal with the champion's engraved autograph - will be accompanied by, among other things, a draw among the audience for sponsor gifts. Zbigniew Skrudlik will be signing a book describing his sports career. The team tournament (October 11, 2026) will last begin at 8:30 a.m. and end after 2:00 p.m. We invite you. On both days admission to the competition is free. On the tournament website floretwitoldawoydy.com there will be an internet broadcast and video streaming.
