80 decibels - Warsaw premiere

Noise is the second – after air pollution – biggest environmental threat to our lives. Yet the state does not provide effective protection, and one fifth of us are forced to live in places that damage our health. It's time to put an end to this. "80 decibels" is a performance that tells the story of life in a city where noise has become the norm. The title refers to the sound level that residents of the newly built Warsaw Osiedle Przy Alejach face every day, where noise intensity exceeds the level considered harmful to health. The starting point is the story of one housing estate, but the performance quickly reveals the scale of the phenomenon. Why in Poland are new apartments built in places where noise standards are regularly exceeded? Who is responsible for this – developers, officials, or perhaps the state that allows it? More details on the Komuna Warszawa website.
