Baroque November at the Wilanów Music Institute

November 7, 2026, 16:00 · ulica Radosna 11
The first meeting will take place on Saturday, 7 November 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Międzypokoleniowe Centrum Edukacyjne at ul. Radosna 11. The lecture "The Reception of Bach's Work Through the Ages: From Oblivion to Contemporary Historical Performance" will tell the story of the changing fortunes of Johann Sebastian Bach's music. We will try to understand why the composer's work fell almost silent for a time, who restored it to listeners, and how contemporary performers interpret it. The meeting will be accompanied by a presentation of the organ, which will allow you to hear the Baroque from an even closer perspective. Dr hab. Jarosław Wróblewski will talk about Bach and his music — an outstanding organist, educator and animator of musical life, professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and director of the university's Doctoral School. The artist has performed in Poland and many European countries as a soloist, conductor and chamber musician. He is a laureate of organ competitions, the author of recordings, and a valued lecturer and organizer of musical events. The lecture series will prepare participants for a musical journey to Leipzig, planned for April 2027. Before we set off in Bach's footsteps, we will take a closer look at his work, his era, and the ways in which his music reaches us after nearly three centuries. After the lecture, the conversation can continue over coffee and tea. It is a good opportunity to share impressions, ask questions and stay a little longer in the world of Baroque music.
