Class description: Nordic walking classes are led by a certified instructor. Equipment used during class: poles; comfortable shoes with shock-absorbing soles are recommended. Starting point: at the I. Paderewski monument in Skaryszewski Park. Address: Ignacy Jan Paderewski Skaryszewski Park, Aleja Zieleniecka 2, 03-727 Warsaw (Praga-Południe). Please bring your own poles. The instructor will have only 10 pairs of poles available for participants who arrive without their own equipment. Sample Nordic walking class program: warm-up; learning the correct Nordic walking technique; learning techniques to strengthen the arms using Nordic walking poles; learning how to navigate hills; working on proper body posture; Class duration: 90 min Who are the classes for? Nordic walking classes are intended for adults 18+. Schedule and registration: Classes are held from April through October on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.; Sundays at 12:00 p.m. No registration required. What are the benefits of Nordic walking classes? Nordic walking is a form of walking that uses specially adjustable poles with tips designed for walking on soft surfaces (in parks or forests) or on asphalt (rubber tips). This sport can complement other workouts or be practiced as a standalone activity for everyone. Nordic walking is also recommended as a form of therapeutic activity, e.g., for patients with cardiovascular diseases or type 2 diabetes, and as a way to improve mobility in older adults. Among the most important benefits of Nordic walking classes are: improved posture and body flexibility; improved physical fitness; reduced back pain; a sense of relaxation and stress reduction. Who leads the Nordic walking classes? The classes are led by a certified instructor. Maximum group size: 25 people.
