The Library Puts Itself to the Test

“The Library (Checks) Itself Out.” Library Night 2026 in Mokotów 16 October /Friday/ This year’s idea grew out of the conviction that reading books, the press, using the resources and offerings of local libraries, and getting to know neighbours in them is an effective way to face the challenges of the modern world, build resilience to disinformation, and develop critical thinking skills. Check us out too – we invite you on 16 October to our Mokotów branches. Here is what we have prepared. Library Point No. 45, Skwer Ormiański We invite you to celebrate together the finale of the project “Let’s Meet in the Garden”: 18:00-21:00 – opening of the open-air exhibition of works by the local community “My First Garden” on the fence of Wanda Turowska Primary School No. 115 (ul. Okrężna 80, on the side of Skwer Ormiański) 19:00-19:10 – screening of Józef Dutkiewicz’s video essay “The Garden in the Library” about meetings inspired by gardens Lending Library and Reading Room No. XXI, ul. Bukietowa 4a The branch invites you to: 18:00-20:30 – book edge painting workshop We will beautify our favourite books with an impressive technique of decorating the edges of the pages. The musician will present his original music for bass guitar using a live looper, combined with a story about the history of the instrument and a presentation of playing techniques. Lending Library for Children, Youth and Adults No. 140, ul. Mozarta 1 (top floor) The branch invites you from the very morning: 10:00-21:00 – mobile book display “Read! Checked! Recommended!” based on recommendations from other readers who will share their reading sure things. Ludowa 4 The theme of the fun will be dinosaurs. 17:00-19:30 – Dinozagrywki, for children aged 7+ Dinozagrywki is a unique game that we have prepared especially for Library Night! Participants will be given little palaeontologist passports. For each successfully completed mission we award a sticker – to be pasted into the passport. And what will we do?
