Elektra Reading Room: Agnieszka Drotkiewicz

The story of the fictional protagonist Ewa intertwines with threads drawn from the author's biography. The book tells of the experience of living with a visible facial congenital defect, and in a broader context takes up universal reflections on female identity, corporeality and social categories of beauty. The conversation with Agnieszka Drotkiewicz will be led by Helena Chmielewska-Szlajfer. During the meeting, she will explore the writer's experiences related to the social reception of the book, as well as how, as an author of autofiction, she finds and loses herself in the reactions of her readers. Agnieszka Drotkiewicz – author of over a dozen books. In April 2026, her latest one was published – "Rekonstrukcja. Połowa twarzy tonie w mroku" (Osnova publishing house). She has published essays and interviews in "Lampa", "Dwutygodnik", "Przekrój" and "Vogue", among others. She collaborates regularly with Teatr Wielki Opera Narodowa.
