Fundacja Dwurnika: Flower Rehearsal
September 19, 2026, 15:00 · Fundacja Edwarda Dwurnika · ulica Nałęczowska 25
Works by several international artists presenting various fields of art – including works by three generations of the Dwurnik family – and one common motif: the flower, in a joint essential thematic exhibition.
The exhibition aims to explore whether in contemporary Polish and international art one can still find an engaging narrative around the theme of the flower. It will be a presentation of various aspects and meanings that contemporary images of flowers and blooming plants can carry – an attempt to find interesting and moving representations of this ancient motif, with particular emphasis on folk tradition and its decorative character (Władysława Dwurnik, Zdzisław Walczak, Edward Dwurnik), the ancient belief in the healing powers of plants (Alicja Biała, Sylvia Zawiślak), criticism of the decadent glamour of flowers (Przemysław Matecki, Gina Fischli, Pola Dwurnik), the flower as a visualization of human emotions (Rikako Kawauchi, Claudia & Julia Müller) and finally the motif of transience and death (Łukasz Rusznica, Artur Źmijewski, Teresa Gierzyńska).
A special element of the exhibition will be embroidery compositions made by Edward Dwurnik's mother, Władysława – shown publicly for the first time. An important element will also be poetry by Natalia Malek, present in the exhibition space in audio form.
The exhibition will be open until 12 December 2026. Free admission.
