Galeria Salon Akademii: Alma Mater
October 2, 2026, 18:00 · Pałac Czapskich · ulica Krakowskie Przedmieście 5
Can one be an artist, a lecturer, and a mother at the same time? What price do women pay for combining creative, teaching, and care work? The ALMA MATER exhibition at the Salon Akademii addresses these questions, moving beyond the personal experience of motherhood and showing it as a social, economic, and institutional phenomenon.
The project focuses on three coexisting areas that organize the lives of contemporary women artists: reproduction understood as care work and caring for others, production encompassing artistic and academic activity, and exhaustion and resistance resulting from the overlapping of many invisible obligations. The exhibition asks how these systems affect women's creativity, everyday life, and well-being, and what strategies of solidarity and change may emerge from them.
Artists presenting their works in the exhibition: Kalina Bańka-Kulka, Bogna Burska, Iwona Demko, Małgorzata Dmitruk, Aneta Grzeszykowska, Magdalena Grenda-Kurmanow, Elżbieta Jabłońska, Dorota Kozieradzka, Ola Kozioł, Karolina Lizurej, Alicja Lewicka-Szczegóła, Monika Mamzeta, Honorata Martin, Anna Panek, Eliza Proszczuk, Irmina Staś, Magdalena Starska, Maryna Tomaszewska, Paulina Walczak-Hańderek and Sylwia Walczowska-Rojewska.
