Art of Travel: "Namibia. Through Desert and Bush" – slide show meeting
November 10, 2026, 18:30 · UCK Alternatywy · UCK Alternatywy
We will visit a colony of Cape fur seals, go on a safari in search of the Big Five – but also the small, ugly and shy five – and look in on the Epupa and Ruacana waterfalls. Desert elephants will visit our camp, lions will spring a surprise, and we will look cheetahs straight in the eye.
We will also meet the people of Namibia: Himba women will tell us how to take care of yourself without water, Bushmen will share the secrets of the bush, Damara will reveal curiosities of folk medicine, and Herero women will delight with their distinctive outfits inspired by Victorian fashion.
We will also meet the Men of Stone – the stone wanderers – and see the extraordinary baobab that once housed a post office, church, prison and pub. Anka Olej-Kobus and Krzysztof Kobus – travellers, photographers and authors of the books: "Namibia. Through the Desert and Bush", "Botswana. Through the Okavango Delta and the Sands of the Kalahari" and "Animals of Africa. A Safari Guide" – will talk about their expeditions to Namibia.
After the meeting, you will be able to buy books signed by our guests and original African handicrafts.
Tickets available at the "Alternatywy" reception and online.
