Asian Book Club. Discussion of the book "Return to the Mountains. A Diary in the Shadow of War

The meeting will be held as part of the "Po Sąsiedzku" series. The conversation will be led by Łukasz Szmaja. “In 2019, the book ‘Powrót do gór. Dziennik w cieniu wojny’ received the Moroccan Ibn Battuta Prize in the field of travel prose. Powrót do gór is poetic prose that combines elements of a diary, travel literature, and freely flowing philosophical reflection. When the author returns to her hometown after years, childhood images come back to life, and individual memory begins to intertwine with the history of the Middle East, preserved not only in monumental monuments but also in the richness of ancient rituals and the harsh, volcanic landscape. Since in a war-torn world the laws of human dignity seem no longer to apply, the past turns out to be the only key to understanding the present.” ( Willa Decjusza - "Powrót do Gór. Dziennik w cieniu wojny" - PREMIERA ) The event will take place on October 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Wypożyczalnia nr 97 and the Jan Nowak-Jeziorański Information Center at ul. Czerniakowska 178A. Free admission. We invite you! Author: Klub Książki Azjatyckiej w Solcu
