1941, occupied Denmark. The eminent German physicist Werner Heisenberg pays a visit to his former mentor and friend, Niels Bohr. Before the war broke out, together they pushed the boundaries of quantum physics – now they stand on opposite sides of the barricade, and Heisenberg heads the nuclear program of the Third Reich. Michael Frayn's famous drama is a poignant, psychological labyrinth in which hard facts mix with motivations of the characters blurred in memory. The play poses universal, unsettling questions about the limits of responsibility of people of science, loyalty in times of terror, and the ethical price of discoveries that changed the fate of the world forever.
