Legion Warszawa debuts in the II League PZHL

Legion Warszawa is starting a new stage in its sporting activities. On November 8, 2026, the club's first team will play its inaugural match in the II Liga of the Polish Ice Hockey Federation. The opponent of the Warsaw team will be LHT Lublin. The match will take place at 2:00 PM at the COS Torwar Ice Rink. Admission for fans will be free, but due to a limited number of seats, free tickets are required. Promotion to the II Liga PZHL is another step in the development of Legion Warszawa. The club, which can boast about 20 years of tradition, has consistently built its position in the hockey community over recent seasons. The last two seasons in the III Liga ended with the team winning the championship of those competitions. Currently, Legion runs two teams – the first playing in the II Liga PZHL and the second competing in the III Liga. The inaugural match against LHT Lublin will be the first opportunity for Warsaw fans to see the Legion team in II liga competition at their own ice rink. We are very pleased with the fans' interest. Just an hour after reservations opened, half of the available tickets had been taken. We are learning how to organize matches at this level and in the future we would like to increase the pool of seats for the public. For now, however, we must adhere to audience limits because the match is not being organized as a mass event – says Tomasz Lewiński, vice president of Legion Warszawa The club emphasizes that the sporting development of the first team is part of a broader plan related to popularizing ice hockey in the capital and creating better prospects for people practicing this discipline. We focus primarily on the sporting side. This is the opening of a new chapter for us. We have chosen a direction and are consistently moving forward. We want to show that interesting hockey can be watched in Warsaw and that there is a prospect of practicing this discipline. Dreams of the ekstraliga in Warsaw we put aside as fairy tales. We sadly observe successive cohorts of players who have nowhere to continue playing after finishing the junior stage of training or their careers. We want to change this and build an environment in which hockey in Warsaw will have a future – adds Tomasz Lewiński.
