What was the life of women in 19th-century Warsaw like, and how much freedom did they really have in deciding their own fate? The guides through the world of the novel will be Marianna, Helena Stawska, Baroness Krzeszowska, Kazia Wąsowska, and Izabela Łęcka. Participants will look at their life choices, social constraints, and the opportunities that women had in Warsaw at the end of the 19th century. The novel's stories will be compared with the press of that era and the real places in the city that shaped women's experiences.
