Museum of Poster. "Dziady" read through images

“Dziady” has been returning to theatre stages for many years, each time in a new reading. Directors, stage designs and actors change, and with them the posters announcing subsequent productions. Some speak through letters, others through a sign or metaphor. They feature a flame, a chain, a cross, a raven, an eagle, the face of Mickiewicz or the figure of Gustaw-Konrad. During the lecture “Dziady. Reading through image. Poster interpretations of Adam Mickiewicz’s drama” we will see designs created from the 1950s to the most recent productions. They will be juxtaposed with fragments of the drama, directorial concepts and stage designs of specific performances. This will allow us to look at the poster not only as a theatre announcement, but also as an independent interpretation of Mickiewicz’s work. The meeting will be led by Bożena Pysiewicz, art historian, custodian and former curator of the Poster Museum. She is the author of museum projects and publications devoted to the history of the poster, education and museology. The lecture will take place on Saturday, 31 October 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Participants will meet in the hall of the Poster Museum in Wilanów. The event is intended for young people, adults and seniors. Participation is possible on the basis of an admission ticket to the museum.
