National Independence Day

November 11 is one of the most important dates in the history of our country. On this day, we pay tribute to all Polish women and men who, through generations, fought for freedom, independence, and the possibility of living in a sovereign state. This holiday reminds us that independence was not given once and for all, but was the result of sacrifice, courage, and the unwavering faith of many generations. The Targówek District has for years cultivated the memory of the heroines and heroes of the fights for the freedom of the Fatherland. Joint celebrations are not only an opportunity to honor historical events, but also to build intergenerational bonds and strengthen the local community based on respect for history and patriotic values. On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at the stone commemorating the participants in the fights for freedom and independence at ul. Ludwika Kondratowicza 20, ceremonial celebrations of the National Independence Day will be held. As every year, the event will be attended by representatives of local government authorities, veterans, youth, and uniformed services. We especially warmly invite the residents of Targówek to participate together in this exceptional event. The presence of each person will be an expression of memory and gratitude toward those who sacrificed their lives for a free Poland. The joint laying of flowers and a moment of reflection on the history of our country are an important symbol of unity and respect for national heritage. It is also an opportunity to pass on to the younger generation knowledge about the events that shaped modern Poland and allowed us to live in a free, democratic state.
