Pan Darek" - meeting with Jakub Żulczyk
November 7, 2026, 18:00 · UCK Alternatywy · UCK Alternatywy
It is 1990. Poland is entering a new reality, and Mr. Darek has just been released from prison. He once had power, money, and people carrying out his orders. Now the world he knew has been turned upside down, and he must learn to function according to new rules. Żulczyk takes readers deep into the mind of a man with an ambiguous, dark character, while at the same time telling the story of Poland in the early 1990s – a time of rapid change, new opportunities, and fortunes being made. "Mr. Darek" completes the story begun in "Ślepnąc od świateł," the novel that inspired the widely acclaimed television series. Jakub Żulczyk is also the author of, among others, "Wzgórze psów," "Informacja zwrotna," "Instytut," as well as "Belfr" and "Warszawianka," on which he worked as a screenwriter. He received the Warsaw Literary Award for "Wzgórze psów," and his books have been translated and nominated for numerous awards.
