Osiecka - Last Songs

Danse macabre – the dance of death. A motif as old as European culture: death invites everyone to dance without exception – kings, bishops, merchants, beggars. It does not ask about age or merits. It only says: "It's time." The years 1994-1997. Osiecka writes intensively, as if she knew that time was short. The lyrics from this period circulate in completely different areas than her earlier work. They are more focused, bitter, at times terrifyingly beautiful. Death appears not as a topic to be discussed, but as an interlocutor with whom the Poet conducts a quiet dialogue, not devoid of humor. I will honestly confess what I feel: this is that last whistle. I will immodestly add that with the songs for the performances for Teatr Atelier I rose above everything I have done in my life. And this is my swan song. I never in my life thought that I would see some wall before my head. Everyone thinks that this wall does not exist, that they will never die... I gave everything of myself - these are the words of Agnieszka Osiecka. New arrangements of her songs, by Adam Żuchowski, allow them to resonate even more strongly. Jazz, acting song and chamber sounds create an intimate space, at times almost whispered. One in which every word matters.
