Danny and the Endless Blue Sea - premiere

"Danny and the Deep Blue Sea" is an intimate play about two young people who meet in a bar in the Bronx. What at first glance resembles a one-night stand turns out to be a meeting of kindred souls. The characters open up to each other as they never have to anyone before, and a hope for a better life appears, one that seemed irretrievably lost. The drama is subtly embedded in a social context. The Bronx of the 1980s is a space of violent transformations, dynamic economic development, and an influx of new residents in search of better prospects. The mixing of cultures, on the one hand carrying the potential for growth, on the other generating tensions, conflicts, and a rise in crime and gang wars. It is precisely in such a reality that the characters exist — plunged into isolation, overwhelmed by the brutality of everyday life, pushed to the social margins and marked by depression.
