Rana. Voices of the Expelled from Insurgent Warsaw

November 6, 2026, 19:00 · Big Book Cafe MDM · ulica Koszykowa 34/50
After the Warsaw Uprising, in the autumn of 1944, left-bank Warsaw became almost deserted. Nearly half a million residents of the capital were expelled from the city. Most ended up in the transit camp in Pruszków, from where – after selection – they were sent further, to other camps or to forced labor. The historical reportage "Rana" gives voice to the civilian population during the uprising, whose dramatic fate had often been overlooked until now. The testimonies collected in the book form a story about struggling with the experience of war and searching for a language to describe a painful past. What were these experiences and in what language should they be told? – these and other questions will be answered by Weronika Wosińska-Miler, the author of the book. She will be interviewed by Aleksander Sławiński from the Dulag 121 Museum. Admission to the meeting is free. The event is co-financed by the City of Warsaw as part of the Permanent Cultural Program.
