RGG & R. Więckiewicz – Jazz in Bielany Forest

October 15, 2026, 19:00 · Podziemia Kamedulskie · ulica Dewajtis 3
ABOUT THE ARTISTS: RGG & Robert Więckiewicz Planet LEM" is a special musical and literary project inspired by the work of Stanisław Lem – writer, futurologist, philosopher and essayist, an absolute legend of science fiction literature. The starting point here are fragments of Lem's texts, read by the excellent Robert Więckiewicz, taken from the famous novel "Solaris". Improvised music coexists on equal terms with the actor's expression. The clash of the musical with the acting makes this undertaking take on a performative character – it is an open and ambiguous spectacle. A unique tribute paid to the author of "Solaris". The starting point is the RGG album – "Mysterious Monuments On The Moon" – the musical content is juxtaposed here with fragments of Lem's texts, read by Robert Więckiewicz, who with his characteristic grace enters Lem's literary world, revealing in the presented fragments the writer's distinctive language, full of erudition, insight, irony, grotesque and black humour. The clash of two worlds – the musical and the acting – makes the jointly conceived concept at times take on a performative character, where openness and ambiguity are the value. There is no dissonance here, no confusion of contexts – the whole constitutes, signed by the performing competence, intelligence and emotionality of those creating it, an improvised tribute paid to Stanisław Lem. In the palette of over a dozen jazz piano trios recognisable in the country, the RGG ensemble occupies a special position. Formed in 2001, since 2013 the group has performed as: Łukasz Ojdana (piano), Maciej Garbowski (double bass), Krzysztof Gradziuk (drums). All three are graduates of the Institute of Jazz at the Academy of Music in Katowice. They are musicians with considerable experience, with an output confirmed by awards, distinctions and scholarships. Their interests reach far beyond jazz and beyond music; they are artists with an exceptional, rarely encountered awareness of what they do and what goal they are pursuing. They situate themselves clearly in the space not only of jazz, but also of contemporary improvised music of European provenance. Discography: 2003 – "Scandinavia" 2006 – "Straight Story" 2007 – "Unfinished Story: Remembering Kosz" 2009 – "True Story In Two Acts" 2011 – "One" 2013 – "Szymanowski" 2015 – "Aura" 2017 – "Live@Alchemia" (with Evan Parker) 2018 – "RAFA" (with Trevor Watts) 2018 – "City Of Gardens" (with Verneri Pohjola and Samuel Blaser) 2019 – "Memento" 2021 – "Mysterious Monuments On The Moon" Łukasz Ojdana – a representative of the youngest generation of European pianists. An artist who perceives the culture of sound and the personality of the creator as the supreme building blocks of a distinct musical character, in which inspiration clearly distances the notion of imitating the style of masters. The young pianist's explorations extend across the broad field of art, touching the areas of literature, philosophy, theatre and spirituality. Maciej Garbowski – a representative of Polish compositional thought, in which clear influences of techniques characteristic of the language of Lutosławski or Penderecki synthesise with musical erudition and double bass virtuosity. Garbowski, listening intently to the music of 20th-century composers, explores the issue of melody and harmony, weaving into it Slavic lyricism and an authorial character filled with sensitivity and subtlety. Krzysztof Gradziuk – an aesthete of percussion sound, a colourist and creator of melody, an uncompromising artist seeking new paths of development in harmony with his own sense of artistic taste. The abstractness of the percussion content combined with flexibility and virtuosity intensify the impression of an unconventional art of playing, defining the artist as one of the most original drummers of the contemporary European music scene. Robert Więckiewicz – theatre and film actor, born in 1967 in Nowa Ruda, of which he is an honorary citizen. A graduate of PWST in Wrocław. He has performed on the stages of theatres in Poznań, Warsaw, in Teatr TV productions. He made his screen debut in 1993 in Jerzy Skolimowski's "Ferdydurke". He has acted in films by many directors – from Machulski, Falk, Bajon, Kondratiuk, Koterski..., to Skonieczny, Matuszyński, Maślona. Więckiewicz's most famous roles include Socha in Agnieszka Holland's Oscar-nominated "In Darkness", Lech Wałęsa in the film "Wałęsa. Man of Hope" directed by Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy – the main character of the film "Pod Mocnym Aniołem" directed by Wojtek Smarzowski. He is the winner of numerous awards in Poland and abroad – including five Orły, the Polish Film Award, and three Lwy, the individual award of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.
