A moving, magical tale inspired by Celtic legends of the selkie – sea creatures able to take human form. After their mother's disappearance, little Ben and his mute sister Saoirse come under the care of their grandmother in the city. When the girl's extraordinary gift is revealed on her birthday, the siblings set off on an extraordinary journey to save the fairy-tale world from being forgotten. This is an extraordinary animated film, awarded around the world, that subtly addresses difficult themes of grief, family secrets and coping with loss. An ideal proposition for both older children and adults, prompting reflection on how to talk about emotions. After the screening, we will invite viewers to a workshop inspired by the culture, art and extraordinary colours of Ireland.
