Thanks to the webinar, you will learn: The benefits of the School Participatory Budget (SBO) for the entire school community Models of the School Participatory Budget (SBO) developed in the 2025/2026 school year in cooperation with Warsaw schools Examples of implementing individual models in primary and secondary schools Organizational and formal aspects worth considering when planning and implementing the SBO process The most common challenges appearing at successive stages of SBO implementation and proven ways of dealing with them For whom We invite representatives of Warsaw public and non-public primary and secondary schools to the webinar: headmasters/headmistresses, teachers, student council supervisors, school common room educators. School Participatory Budget (SBO) It is a process in which the school community decides on the allocation of part of the school budget (most often designated by the headmaster or the parents' council). Students, as well as parents, teachers and other school staff, submit ideas and create projects. Then they themselves choose the ones they consider most attractive and needed. The uniqueness of the school budget lies in the fact that it connects, integrates and teaches cooperation among various school groups: students, teachers, or administration staff. At the same time, students learn about the world of school finances. By estimating the cost of their ideas, they begin to see what possibilities and limitations are associated with specific amounts. SBO and the core curriculum SBO (under the name student budget) is directly mentioned in the core curriculum of the subject Civic Education as one of the possible civic actions to be carried out. The school's participation in the project – and thus the implementation of SBO at the institution – will enable students to carry out the mandatory civic action. SBO also supports the assumptions of Reforma26. Compass of Tomorrow: "The goal of general education in primary school is: (...) 4) building students' agency in the process of learning and achieving intended goals, including taking responsibility for their own actions and their impact on themselves, other people and the world; (...) Creating conditions for developing fundamental competencies, knowledge, transversal competencies and students' agency is a shared task of all teachers. This is a continuous process, carried out at all educational stages, in all subjects and across subjects."
