Tadeusz Janczar Square in Rembertów

Rembertów has gained a new place commemorating an important figure connected with the history of the district. By resolution of the Council of the Capital City of Warsaw, the area located at Al. gen. A. Chruściela "Montera" and ul. Konwisarska was given the name Skwer Tadeusza Janczara. The naming ceremony will take place on 27 October 2026. Commemoration of an outstanding actor The initiative to give the name was submitted by councillors of the Rembertów District. The new square commemorates Tadeusz Janczar, an outstanding theatre and film actor who was associated with Rembertów for many years and lived in our district. The naming has a special dimension, as 2026 marks the centenary of the artist's birth. This is another way of preserving the memory of people who, through their activity, co-created the history and identity of the local community. Ceremonial naming The ceremony of officially giving the name Skwer Tadeusza Janczara will take place: 27 October 2026 at 15:30 Skwer at ul. Konwisarska and Al. gen. A. Chruściela "Montera" The event will be an opportunity to jointly honour the memory of the actor and symbolically inscribe his name into the public space of Rembertów. An evening of memories of Tadeusz Janczar On the same day, an evening of memories devoted to Tadeusz Janczar will also be held, with the participation of his son, Krzysztof Janczar, a theatre and film actor. The meeting will begin at 18:00 at the Jan Paweł II Public Library in the Rembertów District of the Capital City of Warsaw at ul. Gawędziarzy 8. It will be a unique opportunity to learn memories about the artist's life and work and his ties with Rembertów. Free admission Participation in both the ceremony of naming the square and the evening of memories is free of charge. The organisers invite all residents to jointly commemorate Tadeusz Janczar on the centenary of his birth.
