Performance "Almost a Tiger – I Suffer Nobly for 50 Minutes" dir. Michał Góral
The starting point for the performance was the author's private notes - dozens of sentences written after returning to Poland following art studies abroad. Fragments of thoughts about the body, work, money, love, masculinity, loneliness and the need to be noticed.
An intimate archive from a decade ago that today sounds disturbingly familiar, becoming the voice of anyone stuck between ambition and procrastination.
Private notes collide here with a living body, movement and film. Grotesque mixes with tenderness, and humor with a sense of inner disintegration.
We look under the lining of the cult of self-improvement - a world in which rest is a feeling of guilt, and one's own body is another project to be delivered yesterday.
What remains of grand promises when the only battleground becomes a tiny room in Warsaw? How to regain agency when the body becomes an archive of fear?
"Almost, Tiger!" is a story about trying to survive in a reality that constantly tells you to run faster, look better and want more. About the need for closeness, acceptance and relationships with loved ones hidden under a layer of strength, irony and learned defense mechanisms. It is also the story of a person who tried to be strong his whole life until he finally began to ask himself - did anyone ever teach him how to stop fighting... A study of a predator at a standstill.
