Świtoza 4 – Night Horror Film Marathon at Kino Świt "Evil Has a Human Face" (paid event)
October 30, 2026, 19:00 · Dom Kultury Świt · ulica Piotra Wysockiego 11
October at Kino Świt has its own tradition. A few days before Halloween, dusk falls, the lights go out, and Świtoza begins — a night-time horror film marathon that every year draws loyal regulars and viewers looking for stronger thrills. This year, in the fourth edition, the organizers are changing the perspective. Instead of ghouls and ghosts, they show the evil that has a human face.
The leading theme is psychopathic murderers, but not in the version known from horror films — rather as a real, terrifying phenomenon that cinema has been trying to describe and understand for decades. The evening will open with a talk by Renata Kuryłowicz, known as "Renata z Worka Kości," a criminologist, art historian, and author of the popular true crime podcast "Zbrodnie bez cenzury." She will talk about why serial killers fascinate pop culture so much and why the truth about them turns out to be scarier than fiction. Bundy, Dahmer, Gein, or Gacy: were they monsters, or simply people we prefer to perceive as beasts?
Then the films will begin:
"The House That Jack Built" (2018, dir. Lars von Trier). A shocking portrait of a serial killer who treats his own crimes as art.
"Funny Games" (1997, dir. Michael Haneke). An Austrian classic in which evil enters the house in white gloves and plays with its victims like toys.
"The Vanishing" (1988, dir. George Sluizer). A Dutch-French thriller about the search for a missing woman, whose finale remains one of the most harrowing in cinema history.
The marathon has an eight-hour format, but for viewers it is not a sprint — rather a well-planned night. Between screenings, breaks are planned for coffee and conversation, so there will be time to collect your thoughts, take a breath, and share impressions with other participants.
This is a proposition for lovers of auteur cinema and psychological thrillers, true crime fans, people who want to spend the night before Halloween in an unusual way, and also for those who like it when a film stays in the head long after the screening. Note: this is strong, demanding cinema, so this event is for adult viewers resistant to intense experiences.
