The whole world knows Migreno-Nervosin powders, or the whirlwind career of Adolf Gąsecki's "little rooster
November 18, 2026, 17:00 · Czytelnia Naukowa Nr VII „Piwnica pod Regałami” · ulica Świętojańska 5
About the lecture
In 1937, the weekly drugstore and pharmaceutical magazine "Drogerzysta" wrote that "there is no longer a single unit in Poland that would not know at least one of Gąsecki's products."
Particularly popular was the so-called "Kogutek," or the Migreno-Nervosin remedy, advertised as a means of soothing headaches, toothaches, joint and bone pain, and having application in the treatment of flu, colds, migraines, and "neuralgia."
The famous "rooster powders," produced by the Mokotów Chemical and Pharmaceutical Factory Adolf Gąsecki and Sons, reached not only the domestic market. They were exported to many countries in Europe and Asia, both Americas, and even Australia. Adolf Gąsecki, the creator of the formula and founder of the company, earned the nickname "The Plock Nobel."
During the meeting, participants will learn the history of this preparation and its creator, and will trace how science and the pharmaceutical industry sought an effective remedy for pain.
Host
The lecture will be led by Alicja Latkowska, head of the Museum of Pharmacy, a branch of the Museum of Warsaw.
