Optional Readings: Contemporary Anglophone Literature – United States
November 9, 2026, 17:00
Together we will reflect on how literary texts help young people better understand reality, develop empathy, critical thinking, and sensitivity to cultural diversity. We will talk about whether literature can influence social attitudes and change ways of thinking.
We will conclude this year's series with a meeting on American literature led by the renowned literary critic – Olga Wróbel. The selected readings feature perspectives of diverse ethnic, cultural, and social groups as well as social inequalities, racism, migration, exclusion, women's rights, and issues related to cultural and gender identity.
The seminar is accompanied by a reading list that will be discussed during the meeting. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with at least some of the recommended books beforehand!
