Void of Matter - new exhibition at BD Gallery

October 24, 2026, 19:00 · BD Gallery · ulica Puławska 31
Daniel Kaliński shows at the exhibition "Void of Matter" a city built from massive, brutalist solids. His works derive from the tradition of imagined architecture, in which a building ceases to be a shelter and becomes a psychic stage, an extension of the mind. Kaliński draws from Escher and de Chirico, but goes in a different direction. In de Chirico, long shadows are cast by someone outside the frame; on Escher's impossible stairs, someone is still wandering. In Kaliński's work there is no such trace: the only one remains in the texture, and it is the trace of a painter, not a resident. Daniel Kaliński (Chazme) – born in 1980 in Laufen (Switzerland), graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. He is a painter and architect; he lives and works in Warsaw. His architectural education is visible in his geometry: complex, at times surrealist, referencing contemporary urbanism and simultaneously questioning it. He attaches great importance to the relationship between the work and the place where it is shown. Opening reception on Saturday, October 24 at 7 PM. Free admission. The exhibition will be open until December 14.
