During the meeting he will talk about, among other things, whether before World War II there was a chance to build a metro in the capital of the Second Polish Republic, what the planned network was supposed to look like and how it would have differed from today's. It turns out that previously unknown archival documents found in France shed new light on this history. What role did Stefan Starzyński play in the history of this means of transport? And was the legendary mayor of Warsaw a visionary or a pragmatist when it came to the metro? During the meeting, you will be able to buy Jakub Jastrzębski's latest book "Metro Stefana Starzyńskiego?" Jakub Jastrzębski is a Varsavianist, an expert on the iconography of Warsaw, and a co-creator of the blog Warszawska Identyfikacja, devoted to mysterious photographs of the capital. He graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science at the University of Warsaw. He sits on the board of the Foundation Warszawa1939.pl, which popularizes knowledge about the city's history and its pre-war architecture and urban planning.
