Štěpán Zavřel Illustration Exhibition
October 9, 2026, 11:00
Exhibition of illustrations by Štěpán Zavřel
Štěpán Zavřel is an extraordinary artist who made great contributions to children's literature and whose biography is so close to many Europeans: escape from communist Czechoslovakia, wandering through Europe in search of a home, but also in search of his own artistic path, education from Prague through London to Munich, and finally a peaceful haven in Italy and rich creative work in his new homeland. The universal message of this work remains relevant today, still generating new ideas and projects.
His work is characterized by: humanism, which lies at the foundation of our European identity, respect for other cultures, respect for children's rights, admiration for nature. Delicate, painterly worlds and poetics reminiscent of Chagall's paintings seduce the viewer and invite them on a distant journey.
We encourage you to visit the exhibition of illustrations by Štěpán Zavřel at Wypożyczalnia nr 71. The exhibition, made available thanks to the courtesy of Wydawnictwo Tatarak, is open from 9 to 30 October 2026, during the opening hours of the Wypożyczalnia.
