We invite you to a talk by Marcin Błoński entitled: "Wild Mountains of Northern Romania, or a Journey into the Carpathian Past" Description: Are there places in Europe where you can wander across mountain meadows stretching to the horizon and pitch a tent anywhere? Can you come across meadows almost entirely covered in pink flowers in spring and have them all to yourself? Will we still meet true mountain shepherds with their flocks somewhere and hear the trembita? All of this, which we can no longer experience within Poland's current borders, can be found in the region through which they still ran just a few decades ago – we invite you on a journey through the highest mountain ranges of Northern Romania, which remain one of the most attractive places for free wandering with a backpack, tent and camera. Marcin Błoński, a mountain guide and photographer, will tell you about them. The meeting will cover experiences from several expeditions to the Maramureș, Rodna and Suhard Mountains, which constitute a vast refuge for wildlife and a living open-air museum of the old pastoral way of life in the Carpathians. The stories will be accompanied by a selection of the author's best photographs, and alongside the most interesting places and adventures there will be practical tips for participants planning their own trip.
