Behind the scenes of fame - Wanda Kwietniewska "Behind the scenes of fame" is a series of meetings with stars of Polish song and theatre, organized at the Okęcka Sala Widowiskowa every second Friday of the month. It is a sentimental musical journey into times past, enriched with word and image. Invited artists recall their greatest hits, present newer repertoire, and also share memories and stories from behind the scenes of their artistic and private lives. The host of the meetings is Jarosław Wasik – singer, cultural studies scholar and director of the Muzeum Polskiej Piosenki in Opole. Wanda Małgorzata Kwietniewska (born 8 July 1957 in Przywidz) – Polish singer, vocalist of the band Banda i Wanda. From childhood she lived in Elbląg, where already in high school she took her first steps as an artist. After her matura exams she began studying at the Vocal Department of the Studium Sztuki Estradowej (in the years 1976-79), operating at Estrada Poznańska. In 1979 in Poznań, together with students of the local Studio Sztuki Estradowej, she formed the vocal group Vist with the lineup: Bożena Krata, Wanda Kwietniewska, Małgorzata Ostrowska, Mira Roszkiewicz, Andrzej Sobolewski, Grzegorz Stróżniak. In 1981 the group transformed into the band Skandal, and then into Lombard. With this band Kwietniewska recorded two albums: Śmierć dyskotece! and, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its existence, '81-'91 Największe przeboje. Wanda i Banda boldly connect generations – from fans who remember their debut from the 80s, to younger listeners discovering their music anew. The band is still actively touring, and their performances remain full of energy, authenticity and rock honesty. Regardless of the decade, their message does not lose its relevance – it is a voice of freedom and the timeless power of live music.
