Why "Old Women" Need Art? – Theater Performance
November 19, 2026, 19:00 · WCK Filia Marysin · ulica Korkowa 119/123
WCK Filia Marysin invites you to a theatre performance.
"Po co babie sztuka?" is a reflection on the nature of creativity, inner freedom and the boundaries that society, history and circumstances impose on a person — especially on a woman.
At the centre of the story are the fates of two artists: Belarusian Alona Kisz and Polish Tamara Łempicka. Two lives, two perspectives on art, two paths — and one common question: what defines an artist? Social status, origin, recognition? Or perhaps the inner need to create — despite everything?
The creators of the performance draw a parallel between the personal stories of the protagonists and the history of two countries — Poland and Belarus. Countries that share a common past but follow different paths. These are not only portraits of the artists, but also a reflection on cultural memory, identity, fractures and points of contact.
The performance also addresses the theme of emigration — both external and internal. What does a female creator choose: to stay in her country and struggle with invisibility, or to leave and try to make a name for herself in a foreign world? Where does freedom end and exile begin? Where is the artist's home — where she was born, or where she is heard?
